Silver chloride mine tailings. Imagine dried mud and you would be close to what the gray ground was like. The rock crusher and wooden tower are visible in the distance at the edge of the tailings field.

This panorama was composed from 11 overlapping pictures taken free-hand (no tripod). You can see the affects of this by the ragged top and bottom borders.
